METALLICA""樂隊是1981年在美國洛杉磯組建的重金屬樂隊，是當今最為成功最有影響力的搖滾樂隊之一。目前成員有James Hetfield 、Kirk Hammett、Robert Trujillo 和Lars Ulrich 。 Metallica是由主唱兼吉他手James Hetfield和鼓手Lars Ulrich于1981年在美國加利弗利亞開始組建,之後在The Recycler雜誌上發廣告,招募貝斯手和主音吉他,後來招到貝斯手Ron McGovney,並且有多名吉他手前來試聽,比如Lloyd Grant, Brad Parker和Jeff Warner,但都沒有進入樂隊,樂隊前期還缺少一個強力的主音吉他手.樂隊名Metallica是由Lars取得,此前Lars的一位朋友Ron Quintana要創辦搖滾雜誌,拿出一列備選雜誌讓Lars建議一個,其中就有一個名字叫Metallica, Lars建議用Metal Mania或Hesse,而後來Lars則用Metallica作為樂隊的名字。
